A Day at Blausee, Switzerland

Updated: May 4

If you're ever traveling through Switzerland and craving pure nature with a touch of magic, you simply can't miss a visit to Blausee. Nestled among dense forests and framed by majestic mountains, this turquoise lake is a true natural gem – and breathtaking in every season.

Getting There – Easy and Relaxed

Getting to Blausee is super easy. There are plenty of parking spaces nearby, so you can start your day without stress. There is a small entrance fee, but honestly, every franc is worth it. The moment I walked through the gate, I felt like I had stepped into another world – calm, beautiful, and almost surreal.

The Lake – Like Something Out of a Fairytale

Blausee is nothing short of magical. Crystal clear, glowing in shades of deep blue and turquoise, and surrounded by peaceful silence – it looks like a scene from a fairytale. One of my favorite moments was the short boat ride across the lake. You glide so smoothly across the water that it feels like you're floating – a memory I’ll hold onto for a long time.

If you love to explore, be sure to wear sturdy shoes. There are several lovely walking paths around the lake that take you through the forest and offer quiet spots to pause and take it all in. The scent of moss and pine, the dappled sunlight through the trees – it was pure magic. Every step brought something new to discover, and yet the whole experience felt calm and unhurried.

Food with a View

Of course, no day trip is complete without good food. Blausee has a small snack bar and a cozy restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. I went for the fresh trout – caught directly from the lake – and it was delicious. If you're curious, you can even visit the on-site fish farm and learn more about how the trout are raised, which is especially fun for families with kids.

Picnic, Peace, and Pure Relaxation

One of the highlights for me was the large grassy area by the water. There are plenty of benches, and people were lounging on blankets, reading books, chatting, or just soaking up the sun. I found a quiet spot, opened my book, and let the peace of the place wash over me. No noise, no rush – just the sound of water and birdsong.

Final Thoughts – A Place to Fall in Love With

Blausee is one of those rare places where everything just feels right. The scenery is stunning, the food is tasty, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Whether you're visiting alone, with a partner, or with the whole family – everyone can find their perfect corner here. If you're in Switzerland, don’t miss it. This magical spot is absolutely worth the trip.
